Senior Ukrainian military official hints counteroffensive may be imminent
In a short but no doubt carefully crafted message on the Telegram messaging app, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine speculated that a massive counteroffensive against Russian occupation forces was imminent.
“The time has come to take back what is ours,” General Valerii Zaluzhyhi wrote on Saturday morning.
The text appears below a video just over a minute long showing Ukrainian forces apparently training at dawn.
The video also shows a number of Western-supplied equipment, including German-made Leopard 2 tanks, considered one of Ukraine’s key battlefield purchases in recent months, as well as vehicles Mine Resistant Ambush Armor (MRAP). , M777 artillery pieces and HIMARS rocket launchers.
It ends with the soldiers and their commander chanting a defiant message: “Ukraine, my homeland, Lord, our Heavenly Father, bless our decisive offensive, our holy revenge, our holy victory.”
Officially, the counter-offensive has not yet begun. As we reported earlier, the various signals from Ukraine could be an attempt to unbalance Moscow.
