President Joe Biden opposes Ukraine’s membership of NATO, which will hold its next summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, over fears of a confrontation in Belarus involving both the Wagner mercenary group and Russian nuclear weapons, and what it could pose a threat to the stability of the borders with Poland, Lithuania and Latvia. Although Biden rejects integration, he has agreed to supply Ukraine with cluster bombs for its counterattack on the Russian military. This decision caused international concern due to worldwide opposition to this type of weaponry.
