The CSD takes control of the Spanish Football Federation, although it does not provisionally suspend Pedro Rocha, charged with a very serious offense | Soccer | Sports
The president of the Higher Sports Council, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, communicated this Thursday to the steering committee of the governmental body that Pedro Rocha and the managing committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) cannot be provisionally suspended. The Sports Administrative Court (TAD) had opened a file for very serious misconduct against the Extremaduran leader, as president of the aforementioned RFEF manager, and all its members for having exceeded his duties. The next step was for the president of the CSD, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, to convene the governing body’s board of directors to vote on whether to provisionally suspend the cases until the TAD issued a resolution. The vote ultimately did not take place.
Rodríguez Uribes has ruled out the provisional suspension of the federation leadership and urges the members of the managing commission to simply carry out the ordinary administration of the entity. The CSD board of directors will meet again on April 30 to analyze the general situation of the federation and carry out new actions in relation to the disciplinary file that the TAD opened against Rocha and all the members of the management committee. CSD sources assure that the State lawyers advised not to suspend Rocha because he did not hold any position having resigned as president of the management company and the Extremaduran territorial company. The same sources assure that the manager has not been suspended so as not to create a power vacuum.
For this reason, and in parallel, Rodríguez Uribes announced to the board of directors the creation of a normalization committee in order to oversee the elections for the federative presidency for the 2024-2028 cycle, which must convene Pedro Rocha when he is proclaimed president. be. the only candidate who presented the necessary 21 endorsements, which in reality were quite a few more: he contributed 107. According to the electoral calendar, Rocha would become president this Friday, but Miguel Galán, president of Cenafe, has announced that he will appeal to the TAD against the decision of the electoral commission to validate the current assembly of the RFEF by considering that it is not necessary to replace 42 assembly members who would have lost their status as such.
The guardianship committee promoted by the CSD will assume the functions of standardization, supervision and representation of the RFEF. This last point is focused on the Euro Cup and the Olympic Games, since Uribes declared last Friday that Spain cannot allow, as a country, an investigated person or a leader with a file opened by the Sports Administrative Court (TAD) for lack of very serious, as is the case of Pedro Rocha, can serve as the highest representative of Spanish football in major sporting events.
