The judge also investigates Pedro Rocha, virtual president of the RFEF, within the framework of operation Brodie | Soccer | Sports
Judge Delia Rodrigo has charged Pedro Rocha, virtual president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), in the framework of Operation Brodie after he came to testify this Friday as a witness. The judge interrupted Rocha’s statement after just over half an hour and charged him after responding to the prosecutor that as president of the economic commission he only had a representative function with respect to a contract awarded to the construction company Gruconsa to remodel the La Estadio stadium. Charterhouse. and after that he was president of the management commission and did not know anything after the award of another contract to the same construction company because he was already president of the aforementioned commission. Rocha also claimed to have been informed by the press that Gerard Piqué intervened as a commission agent in the federation’s contract with Saudi Arabia for the Spanish Super Cup to be played in the Asian country. He also did not claim to know anything about the addendum that was later added to the deal with the Saudis.
Added to the accusation is that, as this newspaper has learned, the Sports Administrative Court (TAD) has opened a file against Rocha for a very serious infraction for not calling elections in due time and exceeding his duties as president of the management company. . . According to sources from the Higher Sports Council (CSD), this situation aggravates the crisis in the federation. The president of the CSD, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, contacted FIFA this Friday, immediately, and the conversations will continue in the coming hours. The Government, the same sources assure, will guarantee in any case the good development of the international commitments that Spanish football has ahead, such as the participation of the men’s team in the Euro Cup, this and the women’s team in the Olympic Games and the World Organization 2030.
The judge had summoned the Extremaduran leader after a letter from Miguel Ángel Galán, president of Cenafe, in which he denounced alleged obstruction of justice. The federation did not comply with the judge’s documentation requirements and this triggered the aforementioned Operation Brodie, which led to the search of the federation headquarters and the arrests of several federation leaders.
Rocha was also president of the economic commission during the events that are being investigated, such as the awarding of works to the construction company Gruconsa, where the brother of Pedro González Segura, director of federation legal services, works. Furthermore, both as president of the aforementioned economic commission and during his time as president of the management company, the budgets also coincide with cost overruns in the travel of the different national teams.
Rocha had been proclaimed virtual boss of Spanish football this morning as he was the only candidate who on Thursday provided the necessary endorsements, 21, to present the candidacy. Rocha was endorsed by 107 assembly members and his presidency was going to be made official this Monday. He had the benefit of all sports institutions, national and international, including LaLiga. With his accusation, everything has been blown up. Rocha himself had made the decision to remove federation directors and employees who were already being investigated from his duties. The question is whether he will do the same with his own figure.
